I’ve always felt a connection with music, when I was a kid they asked me in school what I would like to be when I grew up. Among my many dreams and desires, being a musician, a singer, a pianist took the lead. I started writing in college, I went to San Diego State University for vocal performance but found my style was conflicting with what I was being taught in school. I would spend nights in the practice room playing through my lessons, only to find that by the end of the night I had composed the structure of an original song instead. The first one I wrote was titled “Shallow”, now on my acoustic album “The Start”. I was walking to math class and as I was opening the door, this melody popped in my head and it would not go away. I knew there was no hope in staying for math so I left and composed my first song in my dorm!
Ever since then I have been fortunate enough to be able to write songs, and to continue to write better songs as I grow. My story is just beginning, but I hope that what I write inspires people - that it stays with them. Music has been my teacher, and if I can pay it forward I'll feel like my music has done something positive.
